Hey everyone, I've been following the tragic events surrounding the June 29, 2019, shooting in Colorado Springs, and something that's really been on my mind is the role of community spaces and how they sometimes become sites of violence. It's unsettling to think that what should be a safe haven for students—the tracks and fields of Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy—ended up as the scene of such a devastating incident. I'm really curious if anyone else has thoughts on how we can better protect these spaces or if there are initiatives in place to restore them after such tragedies. Surely, students and the local community must be feeling the impact terribly. It's so important for these places to remain safe, not just physically, but as nurturing environments where young people can learn and grow without fear. Sending thoughts to the families and friends of Diego and Kevin during this incredibly difficult time. It's hard to imagine the pain of losing loved ones so unexpectedly. Feel free to share your thoughts or any information you've come across about community recovery initiatives.
