I’ve been following Alexander X. Colon’s case for a while now, and I just can’t shake the sorrow his family must feel. I grew up in Chicago, not far from some of the neighborhoods that have been hit hardest by violence, and it compels me to dig into these stories, hoping for some resolution or progress.
What really strikes me about Alexander’s story is the frustrating vagueness surrounding the motive behind his murder. How can someone be taken from their family without any known reason, simply becoming another statistic? It's maddening to think about, especially knowing that this was just one of so many incidents that year.
I often think about the resources that could be harnessed into the community and preventative measures instead of just reactionary. I wonder if anything has changed since 2015 or if the city is still grappling with similar levels of violence today. Alexander deserves justice, and I hope that one day his case finds closure for his family's sake. Any thoughts or updates from others following cases like this?
