Hey everyone, I wanted to see if anyone else thinks Royal Tompkins' recanting of his confession adds another layer of complication to this case. I mean, he initially confessed to strangling Rebecca, but then turned around and said she was still alive? I can't help but wonder if he was trying to protect someone or if he genuinely knew something the rest of us didn't. It’s puzzling that no trace of Rebecca was ever found, which makes me think there might be more to this story than we know. What do you all think? Could there have been someone else involved, or was this just a desperate attempt by Royal to manipulate the situation? Would love to hear your thoughts!
Has anyone else looked into the possibility of human trafficking in Rebecca's case? I know this might seem a bit out there, given the confession and all, but the 1980s were a different time, and child trafficking was a terrifying issue lurking beneath the surface even back then. I can't stop thinking about how Royal recanted his confession when it came to Rebecca. Could it be possible that someone else took advantage of the situation and took Rebecca? Granted, it's mostly speculation, but it just seems odd to me that there's absolutely no trace of her. Maybe I'm grasping at straws, but does anyone have more insight or theories on this angle? I'd love to hear more thoughts on this, as there's just so much about this case that feels off.
