I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact this has had on the community, especially considering it happened on National Night Out—a night meant for building trust and camaraderie between neighborhoods and law enforcement. Commerce City must have been incredibly shaken by this, especially as the event was supposed to symbolize safety and unity. I can't imagine how Andrew Ervin's family is coping, knowing their loved one was taken so violently on a night meant for peace. It’s a grim reminder of how quickly things can spiral out of control, and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy. Do you think this will change how future events like National Night Out are approached in the community? It must be so difficult to feel safe when something so unexpected happens on a night dedicated to safety. My thoughts are with Andrew's family and all those who were involved in witnessing such a terrible event.
Has anyone else been reflecting on the timing of this tragedy at the National Night Out event? It’s haunting to think about how a night meant for community togetherness turned into such a violent ordeal. It feels incredibly surreal. Andrew Ervin, a 65-year-old who should have been safe, was taken from his community in such a senseless manner. My heart goes out to his family and friends who must be dealing with an indescribable loss. The bravery of the officers involved also stands out. They risked their lives to protect others, facing a barrage of gunfire. So much courage and strength. I hope the community can find a way to heal from this.
Hey everyone,
I've been closely following the tragic events surrounding the murder of Andrew Ervin in Commerce City, and something that's really hit me is the role that National Night Out played in all of this. It's absolutely tragic to think that an event meant to build community spirit and safety ended in such a devastating loss.
I can't stop thinking about the other neighbors and community members who were likely out and about on that day, gathering together and trying to enjoy what should have been a peaceful evening. It must have been absolutely terrifying to witness such violence unfold right in their neighborhood. Not only did they lose a dear neighbor in such a violent way, but their trust in what was supposed to be a secure and joyous occasion was betrayed.
I hope the other neighbors have been able to find some support and community care in the aftermath; they must be going through an incredibly tough time trying to reconcile these events with what their community stands for. Sending thoughts to all of them during this difficult healing process. ❤️
Anyone else feel like these tragic occurrences just shouldn’t happen during events meant for unity? Let me know your thoughts.
