I hope this is a safe place to share some thoughts about the recent tragedy at the Hyatt House Hotel. I've been thinking a lot about how the community must be feeling after losing someone so young like Angel Isai Ruiz. I can't imagine the pain his family must be going through right now. It really hit me how quickly a moment of celebration can turn into something so devastating.
Did anyone else read about how Angel's passion was soccer? I think it's important to remember the good things about him that his friends and family loved. He deserved to be cheering on his favorite team right now, not being remembered in this way. It's another reminder of how gun violence can destroy lives in an instant. Kudos to the Aurora Police Department for their swift action in apprehending the suspects. It’s reassuring to know they’re actively seeking justice, but it doesn’t change the loss. For those involved in these events—whether you're friends, acquaintances, or witnesses—please take care of yourselves and talk to someone if you need to process everything. My thoughts are with Angel’s loved ones during this unimaginable time. If anyone has more insights or personal experiences to share about Angel, we'd love to hear them.
