Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the role that community spaces, like malls, play in our lives and how the Citadel Mall incident really hit hard for so many of us here in Colorado Springs. It's so unsettling to think that a place supposed to be safe for families and friends became the scene of such a tragic event. I can only imagine how Matthew Westrich's family must feel whenever they pass by or think of that place. Malls are meant to be places where we unwind, shop, and hang out, not where we fear for our lives. I remember as a teenager practically living at the mall during the weekends. This incident has really prompted me to call for some community-driven discussions on what changes we can push for to make places like this safer. Maybe increased security measures or community outreach programs? I'm not sure what the solution is, but I do know that keeping Matthew and Jeremiah's memory alive through action is important. For those still holding out hope for justice, my thoughts are with you. If anyone has thoughts on how we can make our community safer or if there are any upcoming forums or events, please share! Stay safe out there, everyone.
