I’ve been digging into the 1972 case of Deputy Sheriff Travis Haynes, and one detail that stands out is the incredible response from the Tucumcari community. It's truly moving to see how people came together to support Deputy Haynes and his family after the tragic incident. The fact that Dr. Thomas M. Prescott stepped up and initiated a fund that gathered $754.80 speaks volumes about the community spirit and compassion. This might not seem like a huge amount today, but back then, it must have been quite a significant gesture. It shows just how valued Deputy Haynes was to those around him. Stories like these highlight how communities can rally and support one another during tough times, which is heartening amidst such tragic circumstances. My thoughts are with Deputy Haynes's family and everyone who was touched by his dedication and the devastating events that followed.
