Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the cold case of Royal Cumby, and one aspect that really struck me is the location of the crime. Does anyone else find it strange or significant that the murder happened right at an intersection? It seems like such a public place for something so heinous to occur. You'd think there might have been potential witnesses driving by or living nearby who saw or heard something unusual around that time. Do you think the killer was familiar with the area and knew the streets well? Maybe they thought they could make a quick getaway while most people were indoors at that time? It feels like there could be so much more to this location choice than meets the eye. It’s truly sad for Royal’s family to still lack answers all these years later. Hoping that someone, maybe even a forgotten witness, comes forward with information that could help. The DPS is still offering rewards for tips, so if anyone recalls anything, no matter how small, it might be worth reaching out. Thoughts? Wishing strength to everyone affected by this case.

I came across this case while diving into cold cases in Texas, and one detail that stands out to me is the time and place of Royal Cumby's murder. Being shot at the intersection of 4-1/2 Street and Avenue Q at 7:20 PM makes me wonder about the circumstances leading up to that moment. It's a public space and not too late in the evening, so there's a chance that someone might have seen or heard something unusual that evening. It’s so hard to think about the lack of closure for his family and friends after all these years. I can’t imagine the frustration they must have felt every time a potential lead came up empty. If someone saw something, even if it seemed insignificant at the time, please reach out to the DPS Crime Stoppers. Every little piece of information could be the missing link in solving this case and bringing some peace to those who knew him. Keeping Royal's memory alive and bringing justice is something this community can surely help with.

It's so difficult to fathom how Royal Cumby's case has remained unsolved for all these years. I was looking into it again today, and something struck me about the location of his murder - the intersection of 4-1/2 Street and Avenue Q. Santa Fe might not be a bustling metropolis, but that intersection is quite central for the locals. Could it be possible that someone who frequently passed through that area might have seen or heard something without fully realizing its significance at the time? Sometimes familiar locations might desensitize us to unusual activities, especially if we’re in a hurry or focused on our own lives. I truly hope that anyone who might have been around that intersection back in 1983 takes a moment to reflect and consider if there’s anything—even the smallest detail—they might recall. Even a seemingly trivial piece of information can be the missing puzzle piece investigators need. If you were in that vicinity or know someone who was, please urge them to think back and perhaps reach out through the Crime Stoppers hotline. I can't imagine the pain his family must feel, not knowing what happened to their loved one. If there's any chance of providing them peace and justice, it's worth taking seriously. Every tip matters.
