I keep thinking about the teachers and staff at Deming Middle School who were there that day. Imagine showing up for what seemed like a normal school day and leaving with a completely different outlook on life. I can’t begin to fathom the burden they must carry, knowing they couldn't protect Ara from something so devastating. We often speak about the students and families affected, which is so important, but I think it's also crucial to remember the silent struggles of the educators who had to navigate that unthinkable situation with their students. They must have felt completely helpless, and I hope they received the support they needed to process such a traumatic event. This incident truly underscores the importance of comprehensive support systems in our schools—not just for the students, but for everyone involved.
