I've been following the case of Rodrigo Enriquez-Garay's tragic death, and it's just so difficult to wrap my head around it. I want to talk about the phone call Beverly Melendez made before the shooting. She called the Santa Fe Regional Emergency Communications Center claiming there was a potential human sacrifice happening. It gives me chills to think about what was going through her mind at that moment. It really makes you wonder about her mental state and if she truly believed something sinister was happening at that party. It's awful to imagine the fear and confusion Rodrigo and his friends and family must've felt, and how such a misunderstanding could escalate to this level of violence. My heart truly goes out to Rodrigo's family; nobody should ever have to endure such a loss. What's also troubling is how this call didn't raise more alarms to check on her state of mind. I think it's important for the trial to address this and ensure that both justice for Rodrigo and lessons from this tragedy are considered. It’s a sad situation all around, and I hope that the trial brings some sense of clarity and closure for everyone involved.
