Hey everyone,
I’ve been following Oscar Amezquita's case pretty closely and something that's been on my mind is the role community presence might have played in bringing Lonnie Gallegos to justice. ? I keep thinking about how crucial it is for a community to stay connected and informed after such a senseless act.
Oscar seemed to have been a pillar in his community, not only as a businessman but also as someone who simply brought people together. The shooting really shook everyone, but seeing how folks rallied around Oscar’s family perhaps helped keep the case in public discussion, ensuring it wasn't just another forgotten tragedy.
The gravity of this murder is immense, and while the legal system reached a verdict, I think the community’s support was a form of justice, too. It’s heartening to see how people came together in the aftermath, providing support and standing up during the trials. Does anyone else in the Las Cruces area have thoughts on how local advocacy or community efforts might have contributed to moving the case along, or anything similar? Would love to hear your take.
Thanks for sharing and keeping Oscar’s spirit alive. ?
I've been following the Oscar Amezquita case closely, and I can't help but think about the impact this tragic event must have had on his family, especially considering how it all went down at his own business. It's unimaginable the kind of pain they must be experiencing, knowing he was simply at his shop, probably doing what he loved and dedicated his life to, when this senseless act occurred. The Landis Shoe Company must've been like a second home to him. It's a small comfort that justice was served with Gallegos' conviction, but still, the loss is profoundly felt.
Was anyone here familiar with Oscar or his shop? I've heard from a few locals who mentioned how well-loved he was in Las Cruces. It’s just so tragic to think such a pillar of the community was taken in such a violent way. Let's keep his family in our thoughts as they continue to heal from this unimaginable loss.
