I recently came across the case of Abel Efren Mares while following the work of the New Mexico Crusaders for Justice. Hearing about his mother's tireless advocacy for her son is incredibly moving. Losing Abel at such a young age is devastating for his family, and the fact that justice has been elusive for nearly three years is baffling.
I can't help but think about how this must be impacting his children and siblings, especially with no closure in sight. It's remarkable how families like his find the strength to keep pushing for change amid their grief. Ada's role in promoting stricter gun laws and victim support systems in New Mexico is truly inspiring, and it highlights how crucial grassroots activism can be.
If anyone in this forum has further insights or updates on how these efforts are progressing, please share. The more we spread awareness and participate in such discussions, the stronger the support system for victims' families becomes. Keeping Abel’s memory alive and advocating for justice seem to be intertwined journeys. My thoughts are with the Mares family and all the other families waiting for answers.
Hey everyone, I’ve been following the case of Abel Efren Mares and the other victims in Albuquerque for a while now, and I can’t stop thinking about the emotional toll this must be taking on their families, especially Abel's mom, Ada. It’s incredibly tough knowing that justice hasn’t been served yet, and as time drags on, I imagine the frustration only builds.
Ada's involvement with the New Mexico Crusaders for Justice is truly inspiring. Even amidst her own grief, she's found the strength to fight for change—not only for her son but for other families going through similar heartache. The group's push to create a victim's rights office seems like a critical step in providing much-needed support to those left behind.
For anyone local to Albuquerque, do you know how we might support Ada and the Crusaders in their advocacy work? They’re raising such important issues that impact so many in the community, and I think it’s vital we rally around them when and however we can.
Does anyone else find it deeply frustrating that there hasn't been any significant progress in Abel Mares's case? It's been almost three years now, and despite all the advocacy work by his mother and the New Mexico Crusaders for Justice, no arrests have been made. Losing a loved one to violence is a pain no family should have to endure, and I can't imagine the anguish Abel's family continues to face without answers. It's so important that we support initiatives like the Crusaders for Justice—pressuring our lawmakers to bring about real change could help prevent other families from experiencing the same grief. Keeping Abel and the other victims in our thoughts. Their stories deserve justice.
