I’ve been thinking a lot about how much Deschene's family must be going through right now. It’s been a few years since that awful night, but the pain of losing a loved one never truly goes away. I can't imagine the turmoil they must have felt, especially with the investigation taking months to lead to an arrest. It’s a small comfort, though, knowing that the person responsible was found and justice was served. I hope that the sentence serves as some relief for them, even if it can never truly bring Deschene back.
