I've been following the case of Elbert Farris, and it's just such a terrible loss. What really struck me is how the broader issues in neighborhoods like East Garfield Park seem to create a cycle that's so hard to break. It's distressing to think about how his family and friends are left to grapple with this tragedy while the conditions that contributed to it persist. There's so often talk about needing community support and resources, but it seems like real changes take so long to happen, if they happen at all. I hope that this case, and the many others like it, might prompt some meaningful action, not just discussions. It’s tough to see young lives lost in patterns that shouldn't be normalized. My heart truly goes out to everyone who knew Elbert; no one should have to endure this sort of pain.
