It's truly devastating to see yet another young life lost in such senseless violence. David Moreno's tragic death is a stark reminder of what's happening in neighborhoods like West Englewood. Beyond the statistics and headlines, this was a 15-year-old boy who had hopes and dreams, possibly looking forward to starting a new school year or hanging out with friends during the summer. I can't help but think about his family and friends, who are now grieving and trying to make sense of this horrific loss. This incident brings to light the pressing need for community-based solutions that focus on providing support and opportunities for young people. It's not just about increasing policing but about increasing hope and resources. West Englewood, along with many other neighborhoods, deserves significant reinvestment to create a safe environment where kids like David can grow up without fear. It's crucial for policymakers and community leaders to work together to address the systemic issues fueling this cycle of violence. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
