I've been thinking a lot about Theresa Beavers and her role that night. She was just doing her job, probably assumed campus was as quiet as ever, and suddenly found herself in unimaginable chaos. It's chilling to think how she discovered that package earlier in the day. Can you even begin to imagine the what-ifs that must have haunted her knowing that she came across those bullets meant for harm? It's frustrating how the administration seemed to overlook the signs, and I do wonder if more could have been done with the information at hand. My heart goes out to her and all the victims, dealing with the aftermath of something so senseless. These events remind us of the fragility of life and how quickly everything can change. Sending love and healing to all those affected.
Has anyone else been thinking deeply about the role of college administration in the events at Simon's Rock? It seems crazy to me that no one took action despite the clear warning signs. They found ammunition in a package addressed to Wayne Lo before the tragedy unfolded, yet it seems like it was brushed aside. Could something as simple as questioning or monitoring Lo have made a difference? The loss of Galen Gibson and Professor Sáez is just so unimaginable, and my heart goes out to everyone who was affected, especially those like Thomas McElderry who were injured and had their world shattered that night. Even decades later, it's important to reflect on the responsibility institutions have to protect their communities. I'm curious to hear what others think—how should colleges handle situations like this to prevent similar tragedies?
