I can’t stop thinking about the lasting impact this terrible day must have had on the Edgewater Technology community. Janice Hagerty, just 46 and stepping up in someone else’s shoes, never to go back home. I can't imagine the pain her family and coworkers must still feel. It's haunting how sudden and senseless it all was. One thing that keeps coming up for me is how prepared and chillingly organized McDermott was. His actions seemed disturbingly premeditated, especially considering what they found at his apartment. Bomb-making materials? It feels like this tragedy could have been even worse. I keep wondering if there were signs that were missed, something that might have pointed to how dangerous he truly was. I hope Janice’s family and others affected have found some solace over the years. It’s so hard to move forward after such a devastating event, but hopefully, there’s been love and support to help them through. My heart goes out to everyone involved.
