On July 16, 2016, 15-year-old Dylan Francisco, a White male, was shot and killed at the home of 42-year-old Jeffrey Lovell in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Dylan and a friend had been drinking and, while trying to find another friend’s house, mistakenly went to Lovell’s residence. Dylan knocked at the door; inside, Lovell retrieved a firearm and, after a pane of glass in the door broke, fired one shot through the door that struck Dylan in the abdomen. Dylan was transported to a hospital and died of his wound.
Lovell was arrested and initially charged with murder; a grand jury later indicted him on manslaughter. His trial concluded in January 2018 in Hampden Superior Court, where a jury found him not guilty of manslaughter. After the criminal case, Dylan’s mother filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Lovell seeking civil accountability.
If anyone knew Dylan, his movements that night, or has information about what happened at the house, please share what is known.
