Growing up, she'll probably hear stories about Shaquandra, how she was loving and outspoken, and how much she was adored by her family. It aches to think about what milestones they won't get to share together, like her first day of school or her first dance recital. The violence that weekend in Chicago was just part of an ongoing tragedy that affects so many lives, and it's a tough reminder of how much work there is still to be done. If only the situation at that party had been different, Shaquandra might still be here. My heart really goes out to her little daughter, her sister Shakia, and the rest of her family. ? Let's hope something positive can come from spotlighting these urgent issues, so other families won't have to endure such devastating losses.
