I just can't stop thinking about Walter Tavares and what his family must be going through right now. As a parent myself, I can only imagine the pain his loved ones are feeling after such an unimaginable loss. It's been a few years now, but the impact of this senseless tragedy hasn't diminished. The fact that this happened in such a familiar place, near the James Edgar playground—a spot you'd associate with joy and play—makes it even more haunting. I am glad that law enforcement acted quickly to handle the investigation and bring forth charges against Semedo-Cardoso, but it’s devastating to think that such a young life was taken in an instant due to irresponsible actions. I hope this tragic event serves as a wake-up call to others handling firearms and underscores the critical need for firearm safety education in our communities. My deepest sympathies are with the Tavares family and everyone affected by this terrible incident.
