I'm curious if anyone has come across any information on the type of mask the robber was wearing when he killed Officer Young? Given that it was 1908, I'm wondering how common it would have been for someone to use a disguise like that during a robbery. Was it the norm, or was this a calculated move to throw off recognition? It's such a haunting detail that this was part of the plan to hide the suspect's identity, making the investigation even more challenging for the officers at the time. My heart goes out to Officer Young's family; I can't imagine how they must have felt knowing the person responsible was never brought to justice.
Has anyone else found it so puzzling how the robber seemed to vanish without a trace after the tragic incident at the saloon? It's such a frustrating aspect of this case. I can't help but wonder if there were any witnesses who saw someone lurking around outside or fleeing the scene, or if there were any nearby businesses or homes that could've provided some sort of clue.
In cases like these, it's disheartening to see the lack of technology back then that we rely on today to solve crimes. It's like the identity of the masked man just slipped into the shadows, and it's painful to think about the weight carried by Officer Young's family, not just because of the sudden loss, but having to live with so many unanswered questions. I hope one day we can uncover more about what really happened that evening at the saloon, not only for justice for Officer Young but for some semblance of closure for his family.
