I've been reading about the Gaston murders, and one aspect that really sticks with me is the bravery it must have taken for Michael Thompson to come forward with his information. It's not easy for anyone, let alone someone with ties to such a dangerous world, to testify against people like Garrett and McClure. It takes immense courage to step away from the code of silence that gangs typically enforce. Despite his past, Thompson's decision to assist Detective Sergeant Mike Graham was pivotal in bringing justice for Margo, Sylvia, Sandra, and Gary. I can't stop thinking about the chilling detail of the twins clutching their toys during this horrific crime. It really drives home how heartbreaking and senseless it all was. Sending thoughts to anyone who lived through that fear back in the '70s and to the families who continued to grapple with this tragedy until justice was finally served.
