I recently came across a letter written by one of the student heroes from Thurston High School on a website and thought it was worth discussing. These brave students faced something unimaginable and rather than flee from the danger, they fought to stop Kipland Kinkel during his shooting spree. The courage it must have taken for someone like Jacob Ryker and the other students to risk their own safety to subdue Kinkel is beyond words. Ryker, despite being injured, still found the strength to tackle him. I can't help but wonder how such bravery has shaped their lives afterwards. Have they been able to heal from the trauma they experienced that day? It's important that we remember the strength and resilience of these young people who saved many more lives from being lost. My thoughts are with everyone forever affected by this tragedy, and I hope those involved have found some measure of peace.

Hey everyone, I've been reading up on the tragic events of the Thurston High School shooting and wanted to share a bit about the incredible bravery shown by Jacob Ryker and those other courageous students who intervened. I can't even begin to imagine the chaos and terror they faced, but despite their injuries and the danger, they mustered the strength to tackle Kipland Kinkel during the shooting. It's a testament to their strength of spirit and selflessness. Jacob Ryker, in particular, was wounded twice. Yet, he managed to gather enough strength and courage to lead the charge against Kinkel, potentially saving countless other lives. It's humbling to think about his bravery at such a young age. While the loss and pain for the families and community are indescribable, stories of courage like Jacob's show us the resilience of the human spirit even in the darkest moments. Thoughts are with all the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this tragic event. Even years later, the impact is deeply felt. Be kind to one another.
