I've been thinking a lot about the role of communication in Aaron Campbell's case. It's so tragic that despite the involvement of a crisis negotiator, there seemed to be a breakdown in communication among the officers on the scene. Campbell was clearly going through an unimaginable level of grief, and the fact that he emerged from the apartment with his hands behind his head shows, to me at least, that he was trying to comply in some way. The lack of shared information about his state and intent is really concerning. I can't help but wonder if better coordination and communication could have changed the tragic outcome of this situation. The loss of life is saddening, and my heart goes out to Campbell's family and the kids involved. Has anyone come across updates on how the police department has addressed these communication issues since then?
