I've been thinking a lot about the role of first responders in such tragic events, especially after the Umpqua Community College shooting. It's profound to know that people like Trev Anspach were aspiring to join those brave ranks. The firefighting community clearly felt this loss deeply, which speaks volumes about the kind of person Trev was. It makes me wonder about the kind of training and mental resilience it takes for first responders to face such horrors and still find ways to honor and remember those they couldn't save. Trev was training to be a firefighter, and in his final moments, he showed that same spirit--putting others before himself. This connection between his aspirations and his heroic actions is incredibly touching. My heart goes out to Trev's family and the firefighting community. I hope they find some solace in remembering Trev's bravery and knowing that his heroism continues to inspire others.
