I can't stop thinking about Katie Gildersleeve's family and what they must be going through right now. It's unfathomable to lose a loved one in such a violent and unexpected way. Being at the wrong place at the wrong time, and the fact that she was just visiting her boyfriend—it shatters any sense of safety one might have. I feel for her boyfriend too, knowing that his absence during the incident might be stirring up unimaginable feelings of guilt. I truly hope they’re surrounded by support and love during this incredibly challenging time. If anyone knows of any fundraisers or support opportunities for Katie’s family, please share—there’s a community here that’s willing to help in any way we can.
Has anyone else noticed how little information there is about the victims' lives beyond the incident? I keep feeling for Katie Gildersleeve and the rest of the families. She was only 30, had so much life ahead of her, and was just visiting the farm on that day. It makes you think about how fragile life actually is.
I'm curious if anyone has found anything about her life in Logsden or heard from anyone who knew her personally—friends, family, coworkers. I'm sure hearing more personal stories could help humanize her in the media, beyond just being a "victim of circumstance," if that makes sense. Sometimes in these investigations, the victims get overshadowed by the crime itself and the legal happenings surrounding the suspect. It would be nice to remember them for the lives they led, not just how those lives were ended.
Sending strength to everyone affected.
