Hey everyone, I’ve been following Marissa Lee Barron’s case closely, and something that sticks with me is how we honor our veterans after their service. Marissa served our country, and yet it feels like we're missing crucial support systems for veterans like her who struggle after their service. Her death brings up vital questions about the mental health resources available to our veterans and how we can do better. Why does it seem like so many veterans don’t receive the support they deserve? While platforms commemorate Marissa and others, are they doing enough to prevent such tragedies from happening? It’s just so sad to think someone who served bravely, like Marissa, might have felt so alone. We need to work on ensuring that returning veterans have immediate and ongoing access to mental health care. Maybe we could all brainstorm ways to advocate for better services or support systems, in honor of Marissa and others who have served. Thoughts are with Marissa’s family, friends, and anyone else facing similar struggles.
