Hey everyone,
I came across something puzzling about the Normandale Park incident that I wanted to share and discuss. If anyone remembers, Benjamin Jeffrey Smith was known for his extremist viewpoints and had been on the FBI's radar since 2006. Now, what really baffles me is why there seems to have been a breakdown in communication somewhere along the line. I keep wondering if the local authorities were ever fully briefed by the FBI or if they had enough intel to keep an eye on Smith's activities leading up to the tragic event.
Considering how he had a history of expressing hostile views, and supported groups that foster hate and violence, you'd think there might have been more preventive measures in place. It's frustrating to think of the potential for loss that might have been avoided. My heart goes out to June Knightly's family and friends, and everyone else affected by this tragedy.
Do you think more could have been done to monitor someone like Smith, or is this just hindsight talking? Love to hear your thoughts.
Stay safe, everyone! ?
It's been over a year since the tragic incident at Normandale Park, and I can't help but think about the vital role that citizen volunteers like June Knightly played in keeping these demonstrations peaceful and organized. It's truly inspiring to see how much dedication and courage she and others like her showed, stepping up to ensure the safety of fellow protesters. In times of such chaos and conflict, their commitment to such a noble cause is nothing short of remarkable. My heart goes out to June's friends, family, and everyone affected by this senseless act of violence. It's crucial that we continue to raise awareness about the importance of safety at demonstrations and honor those who have given so much in the pursuit of justice and equality. Does anyone know if there are current efforts to provide additional support for volunteers or any memorials in June's honor?
