I've been following the case of McKeever Thompson III closely and was struck by how this tragic incident unfolded in broad daylight. It feels especially concerning that such a violent occurrence happened in the middle of the afternoon on Northeast 81st Avenue. It makes me wonder about the level of community safety and how random this attack might have been.
From everything I've read, it doesn't seem like there's any direct connection to his past, which makes me think anyone could be at risk. I'm not familiar with the area myself, but from what some locals in Portland have shared, it's not exactly a tight-knit community where everyone knows each other. It makes me wonder if McKeever was visiting someone specific or if he had ties to that part of town. Given his past, is it possible he was meeting someone he knew or even involved in something unexpected? It just seems strange to me that he'd end up there randomly.
