I’ve been thinking a lot about the bravery of the officers involved in the pursuit of Shane Adkins. It must have been incredibly intense and frightening knowing that he was armed and willing to shoot at them. It's remarkable how they managed to coordinate so effectively across multiple counties to end the chase without losing any officers in the process. The decision to use spike strips was a decisive moment, and while it ended in a tragedy that none of us wanted, it’s clear the officers were committed to stopping the threat to keep everyone else safe. I can’t even begin to imagine the pressure they were under. My heart goes out to the family of Edward Crose, and also to anyone who knew Adkins. This whole situation is just a reminder of how quickly things can spiral out of control and leave lasting effects on so many people. I hope in the days to come, everyone touched by this finds some peace and healing.
