I’ve been thinking about the aftermath of the Fairmont murders and how deeply it must be affecting the families of Jemiez Weathersby and Earnest Cole, Jr. It’s really unimaginable to think about losing someone in such a violent manner. And with drug activity mentioned as a factor, it’s likely that pain is compounded by the stigma and assumptions people might make.
I'm wondering what kind of community support or services are available for the families in situations like these? They must feel so isolated with such a devastating loss and all the ongoing media attention. This is such a complicated case, and I hope it doesn't get overlooked that underneath it all, real people are mourning loved ones.
If anyone has ideas or knows of any outreach initiatives in Fairmont or Detroit that can help them, it would be great to spread the word. Just hoping they’re surrounded by love and support during such a dark time.
