I’ve been following Keilee Sparks’ case and my heart goes out to her loved ones. I’ve been thinking about how tricky and potentially perilous it is for someone to leave an abusive relationship. Keilee was clearly trying to reclaim her life and set things straight for her and her son. The determination she must have had to finally take that step and contact a lawyer, even with all the threats she faced from Gary, shows such courage. Those 24 hours after leaving must be incredibly distressing, amplifying the danger she and others like her may face. It really stresses the importance of having protective measures and more robust support systems in place. We have to find better ways to support individuals like Keilee who are trying to break free. I really hope this tragic case brings more awareness and change. Sending love to her family during these unimaginably hard times.
