Does anyone else find it odd how quickly the confrontation escalated between the brothers? From reading what happened, it seems like there was a very short amount of time between Mae being assaulted and the tragic outcome. It's so hard to understand why things spiraled so fast. Ryan stepping in to protect his mom is exactly what many of us would do for family, but it's just devastating how it ended. Neighbors mentioned they heard loud arguing earlier in the day. I'm wondering if there's more background here, and whether any long-standing issues contributed to the conflict. Whatever led to this, my heart goes out to their mom, Mae. Losing one son and watching the other go through the legal system is unimaginable. Anyone know if counseling or support groups have been suggested for her? It seems like she could use all the support available right now.
This case just keeps weighing heavy on my mind, especially when thinking about Mae Cottle. I can’t even imagine the devastation of witnessing such a violent incident between her own sons and being caught in the middle of it all. I've read that she testified about Nutter’s agitation that day and the assault on her, which must have been terrifying. It's heart-wrenching to picture a mother being in that kind of situation, where you're literally trapped between two of the people you love most turning against each other in such a fatal way.
I’m curious about the gunshot residue and the lack of blood on the Spudbar. I read the expert testimonies about this, but it still leaves a lot of questions. Was it rushed evidence processing, or was there more to the self-defense story than presented? It’s tough to grasp how the forensic details weren’t enough to clarify the intentions behind those shots.
Mae’s ordeal is just such a tragic part of this story, and I hope she’s finding some peace after everything that's happened. She deserves so much support from the community in Parkersburg, and I hope she’s been surrounded by people who care for her. Our thoughts should be with her as she navigates the aftermath of this terrible event.
Hey everyone,
I’ve been following the Cottle case quite closely, and something that really sticks out to me is William Nutter’s unusual behavior leading up to the incident. Reports describe him as being in an agitated "raging" state, which makes me wonder about his mental health at the time. I'm curious if there were any signs or red flags before that day. Did anyone know if he had issues that might have gone unnoticed or untreated? It’s just so sad to think that maybe something could have been done before reaching this tragic point.
My heart goes out to Mae Cottle. It's hard to imagine the trauma of witnessing everything unfold between her sons and being pulled into the situation herself. Does anyone know if she’s receiving any kind of support or counseling? Having to relive those moments during the trial must have been incredibly tough for her. Sending love and strength to her and anyone else affected by this.
