Does anyone else find it unsettling how often we hear about tragedies involving family members? The case of Patty Hawkins being allegedly murdered by her own son Pete makes me think about how important it is to recognize the signs of domestic violence. It’s so distressing to think of a mother-son relationship ending in such a horrific way. No one should ever feel unsafe in their own home, especially not from family. If anyone is local to War, WV, did you know Patty or have insight into family dynamics in similar cases? I often wonder if there are missed opportunities for intervention before things escalate to this level. Sending thoughts to Patty’s loved ones during this difficult time.
