I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of mental health support in Oreanna Myers' case. It's devastating to hear that she reached out for help but felt unheard. It just makes me wonder how many more tragedies like this could be prevented if adequate support systems were in place for those struggling. Her messages to her husband seem like a clear cry for help, and it's such a stark reminder that mental health issues can have catastrophic consequences if they go unaddressed. It’s heartbreaking to realize that these five innocent children lost their lives under such tragic circumstances, and we also have to reflect on how the system failed Oreanna. The reforms to CPS protocols are a step in the right direction, but it shouldn’t take something of this magnitude to instigate real change. My thoughts are with the families and friends of everyone involved. It’s a reminder for all of us to be more empathetic and vigilant—sometimes the signs are there, and we just need to be more responsive.
