I recently came across the tragic case of Ray Harold Bennett from Danville, West Virginia. What stands out to me is not just the sorrowful nature of his murder, but how very little information seems to be available about any leads or suspects. It's upsetting to think of Mr. Bennett's family, especially around the time of his memorial at Handley Funeral Home, with no answers or closure about why this happened.
Despite the lack of information, I hope there are still efforts going on behind the scenes. It’s tough to see someone so beloved by their community and family go through such a violent end, especially when they should have been enjoying time with his grandchildren and perhaps even great-grandchildren. Being a retired coal miner and active in Local 781 UMWA, he clearly touched many lives.
If anyone locally in Danville or with connections to the area has heard anything new about his case—anything about potential suspects or developments—it would be helpful to share. The community deserves transparency and hope that justice can be served for Ray and his loved ones.
