Hey everyone, I recently stumbled across the case of Joseph Kaschmitter, the town marshal of Alton, Iowa, who was tragically murdered back in 1911. One thing that really sticks out to me is the bravery he showed even after being gravely injured. Can you imagine the courage it must have taken for him to walk all the way to Main Street looking for help after being shot twice? It’s just beyond comprehension. What’s more, it’s truly sad to think that no one initially recognized him or attempted to help because of the chaos and fear of the situation. I can only hope that knowing people eventually came to his aid brought a sliver of comfort in his last moments. I'm curious if anyone else has thoughts on why the assailants would have targeted him so aggressively? Seems like there's more to the story that we may never know. Sadly tragic that the case was never solved. Thoughts and theories?
