Does anyone have any insight into why the weapon used in the Franklin double homicide was never found? I can’t shake the thought that it might have provided crucial evidence had it been located. From what I remember, the investigators searched the area thoroughly but came up empty-handed. Could it have been disposed of in a remote area, or maybe hidden somewhere nearby that's yet to be searched?
Additionally, I'm curious if there were any follow-ups with local pawn shops or gun stores at the time, just in case the weapon was sold before or after the murder. It's distressing to think that such an essential piece of evidence is just... gone. My thoughts are with Michelle's family – I can’t imagine the lasting impact of not having all the answers.
I've been thinking about the role of forensic evidence in the Franklin case. Back in 1978, forensic technology wasn't what it is today, and I wonder what modern techniques could reveal. Did anyone ever get concrete information about fingerprints or any other physical evidence found at the scene? It's devastating to think that a potential key to resolving this tragedy might have been missed simply because the technology wasn't available at the time. My heart truly goes out to the family still searching for closure after all these years. Has anyone heard of any recent attempts to re-examine the evidence with today's advanced methods?
I've been reading up on the Eddyville case from 1978 and something that really sticks with me is the timing of everything. Michelle's mother discovered them on January 4th, but they believe the murders happened the night before. It makes me think about those crucial hours between 10 p.m. and midnight. Such a narrow window, but a lot could have transpired. I can't imagine the agony her mother felt discovering them, and how harrowing it must have been piecing together the timeline afterward. It's gut-wrenching to think that Michelle and John Sr. might have been in their home, feeling safe, only for this to happen in an instant. For the families left behind, that night must replay over and over, every detail scrutinized. Thoughts and prayers are with them as they continue to seek closure.
