I've been following Laura Wharff's case, and I can't help but wonder about the impact this has had on the Altoona community. It's always unsettling when something like this happens in a seemingly quiet town. I can only imagine the shockwaves that ran through her circle of friends and neighbors. The fact that it involved a deer slug, something typically used for hunting, just adds a chilling layer to it all. What's been on my mind is how communities can rally around to support victims' families and work on better preventative measures for domestic violence. Laura deserved a life free from fear and violence, as does everyone else. Sending strength to her loved ones as they cope with this unimaginable loss.
