I’ve been diving back into some of the cases from that violent period in Chicago, and Mario Guzman’s story grabbed my attention. It's just devastating to see such a young life cut short amid the chaos that took over the city in 2016. I've read that the south and west sides of Chicago suffered the brunt of this violence, and it leaves me wondering about the community impact and how people in those neighborhoods coped with that reality every day. It seems like living in constant fear wasn’t uncommon. For Mario's family and friends, the loss must be immeasurable, knowing that it was part of a bigger trend yet feeling the sting of it on such a deep, personal level. They deserve answers and peace. Does anyone know if there have been any recent developments in his case or whether local intervention programs have evolved since 2016 to better protect these communities? Any insight from folks who might know how things have (hopefully) changed would be appreciated.
