Has anyone else been thinking about how much courage it must have taken for Joy to navigate her relationship with Fred Lee leading up to this tragedy? It's just horrifying to think about the kind of fear and stress she must have been living under, even with protective orders in place. It seems like she tried every legal avenue available to protect herself and her family, yet this still happened. My heart goes out to her and Nia for what they’ve endured. They deserve peace and healing, and I hope that sharing their story will bring more awareness to the need for more effective protective measures. ?

I’ve been following Mike Sidwell’s case, and every time I read about it, my heart goes out to his family, especially little Nia who endured such a traumatic experience at such a young age. I can't even begin to imagine how this has impacted her life. I was looking into the history between Fred Lee and Joy and it’s deeply concerning how systemic failures in addressing domestic violence can lead to such horrific outcomes. The fact that Fred managed to bypass the protective orders and stalking injunctions is alarming and highlights a critical gap in enforcing these protective measures. It makes me wonder what more could have been done to safeguard Joy and her family. I hope Nia has access to the support she needs to process what she witnessed and to heal from this. This little girl deserves to grow up in a world where she feels safe and protected. Does anyone know if there’s any foundation or group offering support to the families affected by such tragedies in Utah? I’d love to contribute in any way I can.
