I can't stop thinking about Matthew Young's unfortunate passing and how awful this must be for his family and friends, especially with so many unanswered questions. It’s incomprehensible how a person ends up taking two lives in a way, both Matthew’s and, indirectly through his actions, his own. I keep wondering if there was some kind of past connection between Matthew and Jason Bates that might shed more light on the "why" behind this tragedy. It's also concerning to hear about Bates being deemed incompetent to stand trial—makes me think, was there something going on in his life that might have been a ticking time bomb? I hope the investigators can piece together what happened because closure is important, especially for Matthew’s loved ones. In the end, this senseless act has left two families dealing with immeasurable grief and loss.
Has anyone else been following the unusual twists in the Matthew Young case? I just can’t get over the fact that Jason Bates, who was supposed to stand trial for such a heinous act, died by suicide before we could learn more about why this tragedy even happened. It's bewildering how someone can be declared incompetent to stand trial just days before they take such drastic action. My heart goes out to Matthew’s family; they deserve answers and justice. The whole situation leaves so many questions unanswered. If Bates and Young had some sort of history, it hasn’t been made public, and that's puzzling. Why would Bates do something so extreme? Anyone have thoughts on what could lead to such an act without any apparent motive? It's haunting to think about.
