Hey everyone, I just can't stop thinking about the letter Ivan Valenzuela’s family wrote to the judge during Patrocinio Perez’s sentencing. I finally found it online, and it’s absolutely gut-wrenching. They talked about Ivan’s dreams of playing college soccer and eventually going pro. Can you imagine having such big dreams and having them taken away in the blink of an eye? As a parent myself, it’s just so difficult to wrap my head around how you even begin to cope with that kind of loss. It got me thinking about the ripple effect of these senseless acts of violence. It's not just the lives that are lost — it’s the families, the friends, and entire communities that are left trying to pick up the pieces. I really hope that people start feeling empowered to come forward with information in cases like these. The families deserve answers and some degree of closure, as impossible as that might seem. Is anyone else following similar cases in their area? How’s the community responding?
