Hey everyone,
I'm really struggling to wrap my head around how deeply manipulated perceptions can lead to such drastic and irreversible actions. In the case of Gregory Shaffer, it's just haunting to think how someone like Hunter Lamoreaux could be so influenced by a narrative to the extent of believing he was some kind of vigilante. He convinced himself he was protecting children, but he never even confirmed any of these alleged abuses independently.
It's incredibly disturbing how rumors or, in this case, secondhand information, can fester and grow into something so dangerous. This situation with Hunter reminds us of the importance of looking at facts instead of getting caught up in hearsay. I feel so much for Gregory's friends and family. They have to face a massive hole in their lives because of an assumption twisted into a justification for murder.
I know these thoughts don't solve anything, but I wanted to share them. We need to talk about how misinformation can spiral so horrifically out of control.
What do you all think?
