I've been thinking a lot about the courage it must have taken for Special Agent Horan to enter that house in Suffield on April 18, 1957. It's incredible to imagine the dedication someone must have had to willingly step into such a dangerous situation, knowing the risks involved. The way he bravely ascended the stairs, not knowing what awaited him, speaks volumes about his commitment to justice. It makes me appreciate the sacrifices that law enforcement officers make every day, and my heart goes out to his wife, Helen, and their young son, who had to continue on without him. Losing a husband and father like that must have been unimaginably difficult, especially knowing he died a hero trying to protect others from a dangerous fugitive. Though time has passed, hearing that a segment of Interstate 91 and other memorials have been dedicated in his name is a testament to the lasting impact of his bravery. It's essential that we remember and honor those like Agent Horan, who gave everything for the safety of their community. Agents like him are truly the backbone of our justice system, and they deserve all the recognition we can give.
