I can't shake off the feeling I have about Lori's passion for gardening and how it symbolizes her life and struggles. Transforming spaces into places of beauty and tranquility is no easy feat, much like how she faced her illness with courage. Her garden must have been a serene escape for her, even on the toughest days. It pains me to think she may have felt her only escape from her own suffering was through such a tragic end. What haunts me the most, though, is considering how palliative care might have provided her more moments of peace in her final days. It’s just devastating that someone so dedicated to nurturing life felt she had no other avenues for relief. I hope this case prompts more conversations around supporting patients who are dealing with such immense pain, both physically and mentally. Lori's love and strength will be remembered, and my heart goes out to her family who has endured such loss.
