I was reading about Keyon T. Boyd's case, and it really struck a chord with me. It's so devastating to think about the two younger boys who were with him that day. They not only went through a terrifying experience but must also grapple with the emotional aftermath of losing their friend. Being just 13 and 17, I can't imagine the immediate and long-term effects this might have on their well-being and sense of security. It seems like Chicago in 2016 was a war zone, and these young kids were caught in the crossfire through no fault of their own. I hope the community has been able to rally around them and offer the support they surely need to process such a traumatic event. It's moments like these where we realize that the impact of violence ripples far beyond the initial tragedy, affecting countless lives in its wake.
