Hey everyone, I can't stop thinking about little Zariah who was caught in the middle of that terrible shooting back in August 2016. It's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that she was just playing with water balloons one moment and then her world was changed forever the next. The innocence of a child being caught up in something so horrible is just gut-wrenching. I’ve been wondering about the kind of support and resources available for children like Zariah who survive such traumatic events. Does anyone know if there are any specific community programs in Chicago that help young victims navigate their recovery and trauma? Also, how are they supporting families during these incredibly tough times? I truly hope Zariah got the care she needed and, like many of you, I wish her and her family healing and strength. It’s stories like these that remind us how desperately we need change. Sending out love to anyone touched by this or similar tragedies.
