I've been following Mario Mojica Rios' tragic story, and it just makes me so upset thinking about the loss his family must feel. Mario was only 20 years old with so much life ahead of him, and he was taken in what feels like such a senseless act of violence. August 2016 was an incredibly tough time for the city, with so many falling victim to this spike in gun violence. It's hard not to feel for all the families who had to endure such unbearable grief during that period. I hope there’s some way to address the root causes that led to this wave of violence because no family should have to go through what Mario’s is right now. Does anyone know if there have been any community initiatives or changes since that time to tackle these issues?
