It's so deeply upsetting to hear about Robert L. Porter's murder and the conditions surrounding it. It's evident that the systemic issues in Chicago were immense back in 2016, and it's tragic how many lives were affected. His case really highlights how critical it is to address the root causes of violence—like poverty and lack of opportunities for young people. It's maddening that these are still persistent issues, and it makes you wonder what more could have been done to prevent such a devastating loss. My thoughts are with Robert's family and everyone else impacted. We seriously need more investments in community resources and strategies to uplift these neighborhoods long-term.
